Splash and Blue Marans project
Marans are known for their dark chocolate- russet brown eggs and their delicious meat. They are a dual purpose bird and we find them to be very sweet. Cocks are 8 pounds and hens are 6 pounds. Hens are curious, and serious about their job! I find the males to be very chill. The blues are quite a bit heavier than the splash. So we will be working on them for the future but wanted a nice fun pen of dark brown eggs. Obviously not for showing but great free rangers and a beautiful addition to the egg basket.

Winter Hardy: Yes, they enjoy being outside during the winter. Males have large combs so house them appropriately for winter.
