Mottled Houdan

Mottled Houdan

The Mottled Houdan is an old French breed that originated in Houdan France (Normandy Fowl). They were exported to the USA and admitted into the Standard in 1874. Cocks are 8 lbs and hens are 6.5 lbs. They lay a beautiful pearly white egg.  We have 3 different lines and have showed them at a couple Alberta shows including the Canadian National Poultry Show. They are a work in progress and we continue to work on patterns and separation of the 5th toe.  They are friendly birds, that love to forage and find grubs and worms.

Eggs: 215 pearly white eggs

Winter Hardy: We have had them two winters now and they have faired very well.
