Blue Partridge Wyandotte
I saw this Wyandotte variety in Europe many years ago. Since I couldn’t find them in Canada I made my own. We grew out over 500 chicks in order to get the pen we have today. These are F5 and we will continue to work with them over the coming years.
Wyandotte ( Pronounced why-en –dot ) originated in New York and Wisconsin and were originally named Sebrights but were later named Wyandotte after the Wyandotte Indian Nation in the 1800’s. Wyandotte are fairly docile, get along well with other breeds and have gorgeous plumage in many color varieties. They are a medium weight bird and have yellow skin. They are dual purpose, dependable winter layers with decent sized eggs. Hens weigh 6.5 pounds and Cocks weigh 8.5 pounds. At Westerdale Farms we work with Exhibition Partridge Wyandotte and Blue Partridge Wyandotte.
Excellent egg layers and a decent size table bird. We may have a couple extra breeding pairs available in the fall. Our current pens are blue partridge males over partridge females so you have a 50/50 chance of a blue chick. As chicks they are straight run for color as we cant tell until they feather out.
