Westerdale Farms Land Fowl White Crested Black Polish Bantams

White Crested Black Polish Bantams

The White Crested Black Polish bantams were admitted into the American Standard of Perfection in 1938 and they are part of the AOCCL class. They are prized for their cute crests and white eggs.  They also have large cavernous nostrils. Cocks weigh 30 oz and hens lay 26 oz.

The White Crested Black Polish are owned by our middle child. She has always admired the polish at the shows because of their “funky hair”. Fast forward a few years and she is learning how to breed, memorizing the SOP, showing them in the junior shows and competing in showmanship with them. 2022 will mark her 4 th breeding season. She has carefully listened to judges from all over North America and has selected breeders according to the Standard. It’s amazing to watch a young child wash their own birds, stand up before a judge and explain the merits of a breed and follow through with breeding decisions on their own at 10 years of age! It’s also pretty cool the a few of her birds are decedents from Jan Brett’s line.
